When it comes to eye tracking technology, Eyegaze has all of your needs covered, from assistive technology to eye gaze research. Whether you choose our Eyegaze Edge® device or one or our cutting-edge software programs, we’re sure you will agree that our eye tracking products are a step above the competition.

Depending on a patient’s specific condition, certain assistive technologies – or even a combination of two or more of them – can help people communicate with loved ones, access information online, and move around during their daily routines.

Here is what David Abell, an Eyegaze Edge® user with ALS, had to say about our eye tracking technologies:

“I have been using the Eyegaze system for a little over 4 years now since I lost the ability to move the mouse with my hands due to ALS. The ability to access the computer with the Eyegaze system has probably been the greatest contributor of my quality of life.”

But how does such a life-changing technology work? Here is a brief guide to how our Eyegaze Edge® helps users regain control of daily tasks.

An eye tracking camera that is mounted below the Eyegaze Edge® screen is trained on one of the user’s eyes – nothing is attached to the user’s head or body. Our image processing software analyzes the camera’s images 60 times per second, determining where the user looks on the screen.

Set-up only requires a less than 15 second calibration procedure for each user. The user looks at a small calibration point as it moves around the screen. Recalibration is not required if the user moves away from the screen and returns later.

Users control the system by looking at buttons that are displayed on the control screen. Pressing a key simply requires the user to look at the key for a specified period of time. The gaze duration required to visually activate a key, typically about ½ second, can be adjusted by the user. Eyegaze Edge® users are able to navigate the programs independently using an array of menu keys and exit keys.
